"As Mayor of the City of Newark, I find the College Connection program to be very valuable to our Newark Memorial

"As Mayor of the City of Newark, I find the College Connection program to be very valuable to our Newark Memorial students.  Ms. Jackie Lucero does a terrific job teaching these young people and preparing them for the world of higher education.  When you read the testimonials from her students, you can tell that she has truly touched their lives in a very positive way.  In my capacity as the Executive Director of the Ohlone College Foundation, I have personally had the pleasure of welcoming her students to our campus the past four years.  In January, 2010, Ms. Lucero invited me into the classroom to discuss local government and leadership with her students.  I enjoyed myself immensely!  On Monday, April 19th, I will be hosting her class on a special "Earth Week" tour of our Newark campus.  I wish we could expose all of our Newark Memorial students to Ms. Lucero's outstanding College Connection program!  It is a winner!"
