Grad Order Night! This Wednesday, November 8th from 6 - 8 pm in the Commons.Seniors and senior parents/guardians

 
Michael Manning from Herff Jones will be on campus this Wednesday Nov 8th from 6pm to 8pm in Cougar Commons to take orders for Cap and Gowns, Class Rings and graduation announcements.
 
Don't miss out on getting your order in on time and best pricing of the year. 
 
If only ordering cap and gown products, handling we be waived this day!
There will also be special promotions this day.

Volunteer Opportunity at Science Camp!

Wanted: NMHS students interested in volunteering at Camp Campbell Week 12 of our science camp from November 27th through December 1st, the week following Thanksgiving. 

We will have 240 campers on site!

Grad Nite update!  We are taking six buses to Disneyland and all payments have been processed!  We still have 4 spots open for this trip.  If you have not filled out paperwork for this trip and submitted it to Ms. Destowet, please pick up a packet in the Main Office and return to her when completed.

 

Just a reminder that this trip must be paid in full by February 1st!  You can make as many or as few payments as you wish as long as it's paid off by then.

 

Lastly, bus assignments...we will pick those sometime in April.  An announcement will be made as well as an email sent when it gets closer. See Ms. Destowet if you have any questions!

 

From the Kitchen: We are not serving Pizza Hut Pizza in the Commons serving lines.

It will only be sold across from the old gym and in the quad.

 

Color Guard, next up is the San Francisco Veterans Parade in November, and we need all you energetic, fun-loving flag-wavers to come to the rehearsals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 3:30 to 4:30pm in the Choir room. Go Color Guard!

All you talented Cougars - Memorial's Got Talent is happening in March, so start practicing your solo, get your band together, dance, juggle, make magic, or do any entertaining talent that needs a chance to shine. Auditions are in mid-February to narrow it down to the top ten for the final show. Prizes provided by Newark Music Boosters. Any questions? Ask Mrs. Hong.

 

There are still NMHS school planners available for sale. They are $10 each and can be purchased from Ms.Destowet in the Main Office for students to keep track of all of their assignments and help stay organized. Support MCA, Ink!

 

Library Hours:  

Monday through Thursday:  Lunch and After School until 4:00 pm

Friday:  Mornings (7:00 am to 7:40 am ) and Lunch

Every day: Brunch (students are still coming in to switch books and turn in old textbooks)

 

If you'd like to enter the Cougar ticket raffle, please place your Cougar tickets in the raffle bin located in the College and Career Center, to the left of the Library door.

Raffle winners will be announced every other Friday.  The bin will be emptied after every raffle in order to have a new batch of tickets to choose from every week. We’ll have different prizes throughout the year, including the possibility of winning a yearbook and tickets to school events.  Remember to wear your Cougar blue and gold every Friday!

There are currently 2 scholarships open for applications. One is for The Sons of Italy Western Foundation and one is for the South Bay Chinese Service Club Scholarship. Both are available on our school website.

We have Computers for students to use or to print out work (NOT DURING CLASS) Students can obtain Work Permits, Job information, College information, and ROP information (please do not send students during class) Students can also pick up Volunteer forms and Recommendation letters here

**FAFSA applications start now! All seniors must start applying for the FAFSA Now! Deadline is November 30th!

 

Washington Hospital Service League Health Care Scholarship applications are now being accepted. The deadline is April 2nd, 2018 so students have plenty of time to submit their application. If students have questions or want to pick up an application, they may come to the College and Career Center. It will also be available on our school website.

Mountain Mikes Pizza is hiring in Newark. They are looking for Cashiers or Pizza makers. Applications are in the College and Career Center! 

 

Eye Health Optometry, located in Newark is looking for volunteers for their Halloween Block Party on Oct. 28th Sat. from 4-8PM. They will sign off on community service hours for any students who volunteer.  Volunteer forms are available in the College and Career Center.

 

Chick Fil-A (Auto Mall Location) is hiring for part time positions. They have an employee scholarship program which awards up to $25,000 dollars per year. Please go to the college and career center for details.

 

Work Permits: Students inquiring about obtaining a work permit will only be available for pick up or drop off during brunch, lunch, or after school. No work permits may be processed during class time.

 

The Ron Brown Scholar Program is now available in the College & Career Center. To be eligible, students must be U.S. Citizens, Black/ African-American, and current seniors at the time of their application. This opportunity is NOT for current college students. 

If you are aware of students that may be interested in applying, please send them to the Career Center for an application. This scholarship is a chance to win up to $10,000. Thank you for your support

Are you interested in volunteering at Washington Hospital? If so, then please attend an information meeting with MEDClub this Thursday at lunch in room 332. They will help you with the application process and some current Washington Hospital volunteers will also be there to talk about their own volunteering experiences.

Newark Fishing in the City


The time would be from 8:00 - 11:00 am at the Newark Lake boat house
 

I am looking for volunteers that can help with the raffle, handing out information, and checking out / in the fishing poles.

Get "hooked" on fishing for life! Introduce your child to the great sport of fishing during this fun and informative day. Fishing experts will give basic instruction on knot tying, casting, how to bait the hook and fish handling techniques. Bring your own pole or use one of our loaner poles. The lake will be planted with fish for the event so come prepared to keep your catch. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. California fish and game laws will be enforced and Fishing is limited to youth 8-15 years old during the fishing in the Cities program. Parents are asked not to fish during the youth fishing time and kids 16 years and older require a fishing license.
