Hello, my name is Ethan Cheever, this is my second year here at NMHS as an Assistant Principal. I am the Assistant Principal responsible for 10th Grade, and 9th Graders with a last name starting with A - E. I am very happy to continue to be a member of the NMHS community, and honored to still be an Assistant Principal. From the first day I came to Newark, saw the school, and met members of the educational community, I knew that NMHS is a special place with enormous potential.
Prior to joining Newark I came from the Hayward Unified School District where I taught Government/Economics, Health, and Peer Mediation. I've had a variety of leadership roles in education that lead me to Newark. These experiences include things like being a department chair, sitting on various committees, researching school practice improvement, and coordinating programs. In completing my administrative credential and MA in Educational Administration at SFSU, I earned the Distinguished Graduate of the Program award.
I am dedicated to students and making sure that ALL students are given the opportunity and tools to succeed. I am also dedicated to the people that I work with. We are a team, and I believe that if we work together collaboratively, and the staff's needs and concerns are met, there is no limit to what we can achieve together. I have brought a love of learning to all the students I have worked with in the past, and I hope to continue doing that here. One of the ways I hope to do that at NMHS is by bringing back the "Cougar Cable" video news system.
Newark is unique in many ways, and I am proud to be a part of it. My thanks to those who brought me to the community, and those that have welcomed me. I hope to continue being a part of the NMHS community, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together. See you at school!
